Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) offers the widest range of academic programmes in the field of management education. Starting in 1997 with a batch of 42 students in its Postgraduate Programme (PGP), it increased PGP intake to 120 in 2003, 180 in 2005 and to 261 in 2008, thus making it the fastest growing management school in the country to reach that landmark.

The Post-graduate Programme in Management is a flagship educational programme preparing the young graduates for senior level positions in industry and other sections. The programme lays great emphasis on knowledge assimilation than only imparting it. Towards this it uses a wide variety of pedagogies: lectures, case studies, exercises, role-plays, simulation, video shows etc. The evaluation system is rigorous one comprising quizzes, assignments, mid-term and term end examinations.
Minimum 3 years of Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University in India or abroad with 50% marks is required for applying for PGP programs. Please visit the CAT website www.catiim.in for more details.
Candidates are short-listed for Group Discussion and/or Personal Interview on the basis of their performance in CAT, academic record, and relevant work experience. Final selection to the PGP would be based on criteria, such as the candidate's academic record, scholastic achievements, relevant work experience, and performance in CAT, group discussion, and personal interview. The candidates who are not present in India at the time of CAT should produce Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score of not more than one year's vintage. GMAT has to be taken outside India and the minimum score required being eligible to apply for the Post Graduate Programme in Management would be 90%. In case of foreign nationals, TOEFL scores should also be produced.
The intake has been increased to 300 students from the academic session 2009.
Yearly expenses on tuition, library, computer, teaching material and hostel accommodation presently total up to Rs. 4,00,000 for the first year for the 2010-12 batch. Boarding is in addition to this. The fee is under revision.
A total of 94 firms took part in the Placement process making a total of 251 offers to a batch of 185 students (the largest batch of the institute till date). The various sectors included the Financial and Banking sector, top Consultants, the biggest FMCG firms, Marketing firms, Media Houses, and some of India’s largest Conglomerates. The participation of some NGOs added an endearing flavor to one of the most corporatized events on campus.
The highest domestic offer stood at INR 24 lacs made by an investment bank based out of Mumbai. Despite the global economic slowdown, IIMK students ended the placements with an average annual salary of INR 10.61 lacs. The roles on offer ranged from Investment Banking, Capital Budgeting, Treasury and Private Equity in Finance to Brand Management, Marketing Strategy, Advertising and Product Development in Marketing.
There were a total of 23 international offers. The highest international offer was USD 120,000. Offers were made from firms in North America, Europe, South East Asia and other emerging markets.
