ABOUT THE TEST

Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is the first step in the process of admission to the TWO YEAR FULL TIME Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by the IITs. JMET score for this year will be accepted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.


JMET is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. The results of JMET provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection process like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for such later process of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute. Candidates should note that the final selection would depend on their performance in each of the components of the selection process.

Candidates will be required to appear in a single paper of three hours duration. The examination will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 13, 2009.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Before applying for JMET 2010, candidates must assure themselves that they are eligible to seek admission to the specific programme they are interested in. The eligiblity criteria for admission to the various management schools are different in various Institutes. HOW TO APPLY

JMET 2010 Application Form has to be submitted ONLINE. ONLINE submission of application can be done by accessing the website of any of the IITs or IISc. There are two modes of applying based on the method of fee payment that you choose.

  1. By Core Banking (recommended)
  2. By Demand Draft

The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. After applying ONLINE, there are some documents that you will have to post to the "Chairman, GATE Office, IISc Bangalore-560012".  The documents to be sent by post are:

  1. If photo and signature images are not uploaded onto the JMET 2010 website, then in either method, take a printout of the PDF application form. Paste a good quality passport size photograph at the appropriate place and sign the application form at the specified places. Enclose the application form in an envelope and send it by speed post to "The Chairman, GATE Office, IISc, Bangalore-560012".
  2. In the case of SC/ST category candidates, the SC/ST caste certificate should be enclosed along with the printout of the application form and sent by speed post to "The Chairman, GATE Office, IISc, Bangalore-560012".
  3. In the case of candidates with Physical Disablility, the physical disability certificate and Amanuesis requirement letter should be enclosed along with the printout of the application form and sent by speed post to "The Chairman, GATE Office, IISc, Bangalore-560012".

Obtaining Enclosures

SC/ST/OBC CERTIFICATE (if applicable)

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category must support their claim by submitting a freshly attested copy of caste certificate issued by a competent authority.  The authorities empowered to issue scheduled caste/scheduled tribe certificate are:

A certificate issued by any other official will not be accepted.

PERSON WITH DISABILITY (PD) CERTIFICATE (if applicable)

Candidates with disability must support their claim by submitting a freshly attested copy of disability certificate issued by appropriate medical authority.

NOTE:

  1. Incomplete Application Forms will be rejected without further information to the candidate.
  2. GATE Office, IISc Bangalore will post the JMET 2010 Admit Card by speed post to the address given in the application form by 30th October, 2009.
  3. If you do not receive your admit card by December 1, 2009 you should contact the GATE Office, IISc Bangalore or visit the website to know the Registration Number and the address of the test centre.

JMET RESULTS

JMET 2010 results will be announced on January 4, 2010 at 1000 hours at GATE offices of IISc/IITs. It will also be available on the websites of IISc/IITs. The JMET website will provide the JMET scores to both qualified and non-qualified candidates.

JMET 2010 score is valid for one year from the date of announcement of the results.

The JMET results of the qualified candidates will be made available to interested organizations (educational institutions, R & D laboratories, industries, etc.) in India and abroad based on written request by the organization and on payment. Details can be obtained from the Organising Chairman.

JMET SCORECARD

Scorecard will be sent only to the qualified candidates. No information will be sent to candidates who are not qualified. 

The scorecard will indicate All India Rank, total marks and the marks obtained in each of the four sub-categories viz. Verbal communication, Logical reasoning, Quantitative ability and Data interpretation.

The evaluation of the ORS is carried out by a computerized process using scanning machines with utmost care. Requests for revaluation of the answer script and re-totaling of marks will not be entertained.
