POST GRADUATE PROGRAMS
PGDIM
NITIE's Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM) aims to groom young managers who will not only design better procedures and systems but also manage the associated technologies successfully. PGDIM blends classroom work and hands-on industry internship.
PGDIE
The most distinctive aspect of the PGDIE programme is its breadth. The programme covers a variety of courses covering the areas of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, IT and Systems, Marketing Management, Finance and Human Resources Management. The pedagogic approach includes regular industry interaction and method based teaching with present and future scenarios in view. The students go through a rigorous academic schedule and learn through most modern infrastructure and tools. The emphasis of the curriculum is on developing an all round personality that stands any challenge in the corporate world. The case studies, presentations, industry projects and co-curricular activities add to first hand experience and learning.
PGDISEM
A sustainability-focused programme with emphasis on EHS along with Operations and General Management, PGDISEM is a course aligned to industry's needs. It equips the students with the necessary expertise to manage industrial safety and environmental problems, thereby effectively paving the way for cleaner and safer industrial practices.
PGDITM
This course includes a wide spectrum of topics which enable students to move into the areas of Business Analysis, IT Marketing, Business Development (pre-sales) and Project Management. The focus is mainly on understanding three main areas of IT management (IT enterprise management, knowledge and information management, and Internet and Web technologies).
ELIGIBILITY
PGDIM, PGDISEM and PGDITM: Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or equivalent with First Division (5% concession on First Division % marks for SC/ST/PD candidates). Applicants are required to have valid CAT (Common Admission Test) score.
PGDIE: All engineering students with a first class degree and with a GATE score of 85 percentile and above are eligible to apply for the PGDIE programme.
ADMISSION PROCESS
For PGDIE the candidates have to submit their GATE score. This will be followed by Group Discussion and Interview of the short listed candidates to be held at NITIE, Mumbai. Work experience will be given suitable weightage. Candidates need to submit a photocopy of GATE score card / printout of GATE score from website. Selection of Industry sponsored candidates with 2 years industry experience is through personal interview only (NO GATE SCORE REQUIRED).
For the other three PG programs, the candidates have to appear for CAT. Please visit www.catiim.in for more details. This will be followed by GD and personal interview. Once CAT results are out, the candidates are requested to submit the CAT score online without any delay. Original CAT score and call letter would be required at the time of Group Discussion / Personal Interview to be held at NITIE.

PLACEMENTS 2009
Final Placements 2009 saw the participation of around 80 companies, offering a plethora of roles across various domains – namely Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, Consulting and IT/Systems. The placement involved 30 first time recruiters, while opening up new roles in the field of Micro Finance, Telecom, Human Resources etc. The highest salary of Rs 15 lacs per annum was offered by Hindustan Unilever Ltd, while a number of companies demonstrated their confidence in the talent pool by making a total of 23 pre-placement offers (PPO’s).
Recruiters from consulting sector included major players like Ernst and Young, KPMG, TSMG, Cognizant Business Consulting and Global e-Procure. Students with prior industry experience were roped in by these multi-national corporations, with almost 18% of the batch choosing this sector. Cognizant was a major recruiter in this sector.
20% of the batch grabbed jobs in the Banking and Financial Services sector (BFSI). This sector was well represented by Citibank, Standard Chartered, ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential, Futures First, Axis Bank, FINO, etc. FINO participated in the placement process for the first time, while Futures First made a maximum of 8 offers.
27% of the batch grabbed jobs in the FMCG sector. Some of the majors who participated in the placement exercise were Procter and Gamble, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Asian Paints, Nestle, Cadbury, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Reckitt Benckiser, Cargill Foods, Kellogg, HCCB, PepsiCo, Perfetti, etc. The profiles offered in the FMCG sector were those of Sales, Marketing, IT and Supply Chain. Proctor & Gamble was the major recruiter in this sector.
The IT & Systems Sector was represented by Tata Consultancy Services, Intel, ITC InfoTech, Genpact, Zensar etc. to name a few. Manufacturing companies like Mahindra and Mahindra, Larsen and Toubro, Vedanta, Anand Group, etc. made their presence felt to the students by offering roles in Operations, Logistics and Marketing.
Placement ’09 saw the participation of PSU’s like BHEL, ONGC and IFFCO for the first time; recruiting students for profiles ranging across Strategy, Materials and HR. Telecom majors like Airtel and TTSL also offered interesting profiles while niche sectors like Shipping and Hospitality opened up new avenues for students.
