XLRI or Xavier Labour Research Institute was established in 1949 by Fr Quinn Enright, S.J. in the Steel City of Jamshedpur. Fr. The admission for the 1st 3 programs is through XLRI admission test to be held on 3rd Jan 2010 this year. For the 3rd program, candidates can get admission through GMAT as well. The list of the short listed candidates for XLRI GD / PI will be declared on the www.xlri.ac.in by January 31, 2010. The names of the candidates who subsequently succeed in the selection interviews and/or group discussions for admission to XLRI will be intimated individually and also will be declared on www.xlri.ac.in.Candidates can go through the website for details of other programs.
A selection ratio of 158:1 makes XLRI one of the toughest Institutes to get into. The total intake is 180 for the first 2 programs. The Institute offers a two-year full time Programme in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations on the completion of which, students are conferred with Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations. The PMIR course is the oldest and the most prestigious of the Institute's teaching programmes. Ranked as the best programme in India and the Asia-Pactific region, it aims to equip the students with the knowledge and skills required for managing HR in a way that contributes to the development of individuals and organizations.
The major thrust areas are Human Resource Planning, Human Resource Information Systems, Selection, Performance Management, Training and Development, Compensation Administration and fostering harmonious employer - employee relationships in the framework of state regulations. This programme has produced some of the top HR professionals in the industry today.
Candidate desirous of taking admission to XLRI has to first register for XAT 2010 online. On successful completion of registration for XAT 2010, the candidate will get his XAT ID and password. With this the candidate can register for XLRI by opening the site www.xlri.edu and then clicking on the link "XLRI Registration Page. If the XAT ID and password furnished are correct, the XLRI Registration page opens up wherein the candidate is required to fill-in the name of the nearest Axis Bank branch from where he/she intends to buy the prospectus, programme(s) he/she is opting and the requisite amount depending on the number of programme(s) opted. The cost of the XLRI Prospectus 2010 depends on number of programme(s) applied for. The cost is Rs 900/- for one programme or Rs 1500/- for more than one and maximum of three programme(For General candidates) .For SC/ST the figures are 600/1100.
For admission to XLRI : A Separate form for XLRI has to be purchased after the registration. The cost of XLRI Prospectus 2010 depends on the number of programme(s) applied for. A candidate intending to apply for one programme or more than one but maximum of three programmes has to make a demand draft (DD) for an amount as given below. A demand draft of Rs 950/- is to be made for one programme or for Rs 1550/- if applying for more than one but maximum of three programmes. For SC/ST the figures are 650/1150.

Candidate need to register online on or before November 30, 2009.The procedure for applying for the other 2 programs remains same. The XAT Score Card containing the performance of the candidate in XAT 2010 will be mailed individually to all the candidates.
