The Ideal Number of Attempts in your AIRCATs/Mock CATs

Along with the best online CAT coaching, it is true that the students also need to check the type of coaching fit for them.

Many of you write to me asking what is the Ideal number of attempts in a section or overall in a mock-CAT or the actual CAT. The short answer is: “It depends.”

The not-so-short answer is: Attempt all questions if you can, with a fairly high accuracy. Why would less than 100% attempt be ideal?

The long answer is that what’s a good score in a One Day International match or even a T20I?

Well, the answer is “it depends”. A score that may look ordinary in one set of conditions can be a winning score in another. So, the bottomline is that you need to adapt to the challenge in front of you.

Coming back to the test:

Tougher the test, lesser you need to be able do well.

Easier the test, more you need to manage to do well.

In both cases, you would be best served by adapting your expectations, and simply doing your best.

Everything else, apart from these 2 things is noise/distraction.

And the best part is that these 2 things are completely under your control.

About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
