When you face something that’s tougher than you were prepared for, you have two options:
1. Panic, like most others would in a similar situation
2. Stay Calm and Adapt
The first option almost always makes you do worse than you are capable of.
The second option makes you do a lot better than most others would, in a similar situation.
Which one did you choose in a tough mock CAT you faced recently?
If you have’t yet started your CAT Prep, you could think of an example from any situation that was unexpectedly tough and your response to it. A cricket match where your team was under pressure, a surprise quiz by your professor, a play you were in where your co-star disappeared at the last moment or anything else.
If you panicked, have you learned the lesson and are better equipped not to repeat it?
If you did not, have you internalized it to ensure you can repeat it the next time you are in a tough spot?
About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
