CAT Preparation and T-20s – what makes a winner?

online cat classes

CAT Preparation and T-20s are quite similar in one aspect. No, it isn’t just that the recent CATs have been of 120 minutes duration, the same as the number of balls a side gets in a T20 match. So, what is it, then?

I’m sure you’ve watched a few nail-biting T20Is in the IPL or say the India vs Pakistan game in the last T20 WC. And at the end of it, you could well be wondering about what could have been!

So, in that post-match analysis stage, you tend to think about which moment cost the losing team the match.

Could it be that dropped catch early in the innings – and, then that batter went onto make a big score?

Or was it something that happened in say the 16th over when a no-ball free hit resulted in a boundary?

Could the chasing team have gone after the bowling a little earlier?

Or Was it the final over when the pressure caused a misfield or a wide?

The fact is that any of these (or many more) moments could have seen a different victor emerge. Each of these was an opportunity waiting to be taken. And the hungrier, the more desirous, team took each of them.

On that day, one team believed it could not lose.

The other believed it could not win.

Often, success (or failure) is not about skill or circumstances. It is about stealing the moment with sheer desire. And it is as true for success at CAT, as it is for winning a game of cricket (or tennis or any other sport for that matter).

During your CAT coaching, remember that each day is an opportunity – to be seized. And the hungrier ones will finally seize most of these, and win. And all these moments will add unto the final result.

About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
