Job or MBA?

Confused whether to take CAT again or not?

Hope you got a chance to mull over what I wrote here.

When you think about a job, think about this.

What kind of companies come to your campus? Technical or IT or consulting or analytics or some other kind? What is the top half of these companies – is/isn’t it management?

What kind of a job do you want to get into? Are you sure about it? For the long term?

I suggest that you not see it as job vs MBA, but job and MBA. Why?

Because the idea is to create options for yourself.

First and foremost, both test similar skills to a great extent – aptitude and then personality. And arguably the best online CAT coaching can help you answer not only how to prepare for CAT but also how to crack a campus placement. Take the case of one of the students at MBAGuru, Rickshesh Manchanda, who topped CAT with a 100 percentile. He had scored a 99.99 percentile in the preceding CAT but also had a fantastic job out of his campus. Since he was not sure about MBA then, he took up the job for a year. Then he realized that he needs to do an MBA to get ahead and appeared for CAT again.

Second, if you prepare only for a job and don’t get a good one, you will be forced to compromise. Similarly, if you prepare only for MBA and don’t get a great college, you will have to take whatever you get or waste a year. However, if you have the best coaching classes for CAT to guide you on your journey, then your efforts can prove to be extremely rewarding!

The idea should be to create choices – to do your MBA only from a Top 30 college (IIMs, FMS, MDI, SP Jain, XLRI, TISS, IRMA, NMIMS, IMT, IMI and there are a few more). So, till the time you don’t crack one of these, you can think about working also.

But preparation done right now will always help you. As it helped Rickshesh. And as it helps 1000s of other MBAGuru students, each year. Because you anyways will find less time to prepare along with a job. Does this make sense to you?

Think about it.

More soon.

Meanwhile, if you want to see how CAT aspirants just-like-you more than doubled their percentiles, in their weaker areas or how ADAPTIVE Prep for CAT propels 1000s of students to success, year after year, get a sneak peek here.

About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
