Keep Hitting or Pause: Which of these will boost your CAT Preparation?

how to prepare for cat

Some lessons for your CAT Preparation can come from your experiences in other areas – areas that are be far removed from CAT coaching!

This happens because generally there is a pattern to how we behave in certain situations, and this pattern can give us useful clues to deal with similar situations in the context of your CAT prep as well. Let me take some examples to help you think through this.

The challenges

You have been running along nicely for a while. You come across an obstacle that seems unsurmountable.

You have solved the last 10 questions with minimal fuss. The 11th one, however, just doesn’t seem solvable.

You have crossed the Easy and Intermediate levels in one of your PS-4 games. The next level, however, seems unmanageable.

What do you do now?

Your response to challenges

Do you keep forcing ahead relentlessly with all your might hoping to bring the obstacle down? Rely purely on hardwork and enthusiasm.

Do you pause and assess – if there is a better way to go past this? Maybe some tools or skills you need to get before you do that.

Which one generally works better for you?
Sometimes, the harder option is not the smarter option.

You may want to consider the same question for your CAT coaching as well. There will be times when you will suddenly face a roadblock. How you go past such obstacles will go a long way in determining your success.

About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
