When you think about how to prepare for CAT, you evaluate yourself, right? And you think you know? You think you know what is it that you are not good at? And many of you probably think you are weak in Quant in CAT?
Let’s say you think you are bad at X (X could be Quant in CAT, or English, it could be learning something new or anything else that fits your analysis of yourself).
Now try recalling how and when that thought first began.
Chances are it happened a long time back. One of your parents or relatives or a teacher or a friend indicated or said that you weren’t good at X (or worse still you were bad at X). They might have done it unknowingly, and with no ill intent. But you took it to heart (or mind)! ?
Now repeat that nudge and indication 1000s of times in your head over a decade and what do you get?
You’ve got a limit that was set in your mind long ago, without your even knowing or realizing it.
Heard of elephants not trying to break away from thin ropes because they failed at it when they were kid elephants? And now *believe* that is their destiny and limit?
See the parallel? And the irony!!!
The reverse is equally effective – if you start telling yourself you are good at something, see where you get to in some time from now. Because your mind begins to visualize the challenges very differently.
Going past the limits engraved and entrenched in your mind is a big step towards making the most of your CAT coaching classes.
Break one shackle in your mind, and the chains will come off!
About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM CalÂ
