How to prepare for CAT 2023 to max your chances of success?

cat online coaching classes

When we think about how to prepare for CAT, our thinking is often limited to covering the course for CAT really well. We plan on taking enough tests to get a hang of the actual CAT entrance exam. We focus on ensuring the best classroom CAT coaching or the best online CAT coaching experience for ourselves.

But often, we do not factor in the bigger picture. We are so minutely focused on CAT that we forget how the mind behaves and what success in any field almost always requires.

A simple test:

Whether you have begun your CAT 2023 coaching in the right earnest or not, here’s a simple test to get an idea of your chances of success at CAT 2023:

1. Try listing down all the important things you want to do over a finite period – in this case, say the next 1 year. Feel free to write down everything, big and small. From learning to play the guitar to heading the cult-fest in your college, from being on roadies to having your own Youtube Channel with over a lakh followers. Write down everything that you “want” to achieve over a defined/finite period of time.

2. Re-list the items in decreasing order of priority, the most important one at the top and so on.

3. Now put down the number of hours in the Top-2 things (that you are investing on a daily basis).

Your chances of success:

For you to have a great chance of achieving these 2 things, somewhere over 80% of your time should be invested across these 2 Top Things. Writing to you regularly and responding to mails or telegram messages from MBAGuru students is one of the Top-2 things for me in my current list.

Now, is cracking the CAT one of the Top-2 things you want to do this year? Are you investing enough time in it – every single day? Or are you just sitting and worrying about it? Putting it off for tomorrow or next week? Now that you have a clearer idea of your priorities – are you happy with them or would you want to change things a little?

About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
