Mastering the Chase and cracking the CAT Prep mantra

best coaching for cat

What’s clue can chasing a stiff target in a cricket match provide about the most important CAT prep mantra?

When you are chasing a big target batting second, you can’t afford to look at the target and be intimidated.

The first step is to not get out and believe that you CAN do it if you don’t get out.

The second step is to take it over by over, ball by ball and focus on each moment.

The third step is to find a rhythm and maintain it, and keep playing the shots you are really good at.

The fourth step is to identify the weaker bowler to target, and the weak fielder to take a chance against.

The fifth step is to stay cool at the end, when it is all about handling the pressure.

It is almost never about looking at the big number – but taking it as small as possible, step by step and staying in the hunt till the end. Small things done right can add up to unbelievably big achievements.

“Taking it deep” as it is called in cricketing parlance.

Isn’t a big chase in Cricket so similar to cracking the CAT prep?!

About the author: Deekshant has sleep-walked through several 100 and 99.9 %iles in practically every section of the CAT. That he is a cricket fan and he writes okay is evident from most of his posts. 1000s of our students swear that he can motivate almost anyone to double his/her percentile through very simple yet powerful inputs. And that’s why every MBAGuru student has direct access to him via mail and Telegram. Oddly, he somehow also finds the time to write songs professionally. And yes … almost missed this … he is an alumnus of IIT Delhi & IIM Cal 🙂
